1. About This Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how the Rumors marketing website (rumors.app) uses cookies and similar technologies. It covers the website only. Our Privacy Policy explains how the Rumors mobile application handles personal information.

2. What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are

Cookies are small files a website can store in your browser. Similar technologies include browser storage such as localStorage. Depending on how they are used, these technologies can range from supporting basic site functionality to enabling advertising and tracking across websites.

3. Technologies We Currently Use

The website uses Google Tag Manager (container GTM-NCJ26LCL) to load measurement and marketing tags. Through it the following third parties may run:

• Google — analytics and advertising tags (analytics and advertising categories).
• Meta Platforms — the Meta Pixel (advertising category only).

Google Tag Manager is not loaded until it is allowed to load, and neither is any tag inside it: see section 4.

The website stores one item in your browser's localStorage, under the key rumors.consent. It records the choice you made in the cookie banner — which categories you allowed and the date — so that you are not asked again on every page. It contains no identifier and is never sent to us or to any third party. Clearing your browser storage removes it, and the banner appears again.

Separately from Google Tag Manager, the phrase pages run our own first-party measurement. When you open a page, copy a phrase, follow a store link or scroll past the halfway point, the page sends a small event to our own server at /api/e. The same beacon also reports anonymous speed measurements (how quickly the page rendered), so that we can tell whether the site is slow on real networks rather than only in a lab. It sets no cookie, writes nothing to your browser and involves no third party. To keep the public copy counts honest we need to count one copy per phrase per person per day, so the server derives a one-way daily hash from your IP address and a secret, checks whether that hash already counted this phrase today, and stores only the hash — never the address itself. The hash is unusable the next day and is deleted within days. What we keep and publish are aggregate counts per phrase, which is what the wording “Ranked by copies on rumors.app” refers to. Concept pages under /quests/, /gifts/ and similar paths send a page-view event of the same kind, and since 9 September 2026 they send it only if you have allowed the analytics or advertising category.

Our hosting and infrastructure providers may use strictly necessary or security-related technologies where required to deliver, operate or protect the website. Any additional strictly necessary cookie will be described here, with its purpose and duration, before it is used.

4. Analytics, Advertising and Your Choice

We group non-essential technologies into two categories, and you choose them separately:

• Analytics — measuring how the website is used, so we can improve it.
• Advertising — measuring and personalising advertising.

We use Google Consent Mode v2. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, both categories start as denied. Outside those countries both categories start as allowed, and you can change that at any time using the control described below. The denied default is applied by country, from the region your request comes from. Whether the banner appears before anything loads is decided separately, from your browser’s time zone, because the page itself cannot see your country: if your time zone is European, the banner appears and Google Tag Manager is not loaded until you choose. A time zone that does not look European — if you travel, use a VPN, or set the zone by hand — means the banner may not appear on its own and the tag manager may load, with the categories still denied by the country rule. You can open the choice yourself at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer.

Rejecting is exactly one click, in the same place and with the same prominence as accepting. Choosing Reject all means Google Tag Manager is not loaded.

How to change or withdraw your choice at any time: use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent, and applies from the moment you save it.

This Cookie Policy covers the website only. The Rumors mobile application uses analytics and diagnostic tools for app purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy; that is separate from how the website behaves.

5. Third-Party Services and Links

The website links to third-party services, such as the Apple App Store and Google Play. Following one of these links takes you to a third-party service whose own privacy and cookie practices apply. Linking to a third-party service does not itself cause Rumors to place that third party’s cookies.

6. Your Browser Controls

You can control or clear cookies at any time through your browser settings. The website does not currently rely on non-essential cookies for its core browsing experience.

7. Changes to This Policy

If the way this website uses cookies or similar technologies changes — for example, if analytics or advertising technologies are introduced — we will update this Cookie Policy and provide consent controls where required by applicable law. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date on this page.
